Hey...I'm new to this board, so hey everyone.

I was wondering if anyone was aware of relatively haunted spots in Minnesota, mainly areas not near the more populated areas such as Minneapolis and St. Paul. I like in Northeastern Minnesota, which is basically a vast vaccuum of nothingness, so it's fairly hard to find anything notable. Any help, or a simple "I don't know" would be appreciated. :ghost:

Glensheen, the former Congdon estate, in Duluth, MN. Lots of activity, even during the tours.

I think you are refering to Forpaughs or the Griggs Mansion in St. Paul. Both had suicides in the homes.

The Congdon Estate or Glensheen is full of paranoramal activity but it is not the family members from the past. Yes, there was a double murder there. Most of the mediums think that it is either spirits from the adjoining Swedish Cemetery that enter through a portal in the fireplace in the Master Bedroom.

Miss Elisabeth and her nurse who were murdered are resting in peace and do not visit the estate anymore. However, on the anniversary of the murders there does seem to be a spike in the "going ons".

Here is a shot of the lower island, notice the red box this is an area you need to stay away from. If you wander on to the property you will be greated in a non friendly way and escorted back to the road.

I believe the location in the red box is a Pentecostal church campground. If you drive down there there's a big "NO TRESPASSING" sign on the front gate. The actual place inside the area is massive. There's also another private road that goes around the actual boxed location and leads to somewhere I'm not sure of. There's some houses there on my searches on Google Earth, but I can't really tell. My friends and I drove down there at night-time, and it was one of the spookiest things. We began going back up the road and this truck passed us by, and it drove through into the place.

Since I go to school around here, I've heard of things such as KKK meetings in Grey Cloud Island (men with white sheets in previous post?) and large fires. There's also another side-road where there's a railroad on top of a bridge that goes over the road. Supposedly a girl was killed here by the train, and her ghost haunts the area. Her grave is also found by the road. I've never been to the cemetary yet, so I can't say much about that one.

I have never heard of a maid hanging herself at Glensheen but there were some murders there. The owner and her nurse where murdered. The owners son in law was convicted of the murders. There are several books on the murder and the trials. Another great location to check out in Duluth is the Depot. It is a very active place. Check out some of the evidence we gathered from there in the evidence section.

Nope, the maid did't hang herself in the mansion or anywhere else. The last I saw in a documentary was in interview with her in I believe Arizona or New Mexico...I can't remember which one but it was in the southwest. Glensheen is a very cool place and sooner or later they will be on board with "Haunted Duluth" and we will be investigating there.

Hey, I'm from Cottage Grove and go out to Grey Cloud Island somewhere between 1-4 times a week depending how busy I am. This is my first time ever doing a post to a board, and I don't know if anyone even reads this post anymore so if someone wanted to send me knowledge that they still check this out, let me know, I can then go more indepth about my experiences here. Thanks

I've been down to Grey Cloud many times (I lived in Cottage Grove for about ten years) and never seen anything more unusual than a gargantuan spider web (like three feet across).

The private road by the church grounds (it's some funky denomination... it's not Pentecostal) is just that... a PRIVATE road and it's someone's driveway. If you go down it you WILL be prosecuted and as likely as not shot at (there's a crank who lives down there). That is the road to the cemetery on Grey Cloud Island as close as I can reckon.

For those of you who are down by there... the old Cottage Grove cemetery a couple miles away is extremely haunted. I go back there over and over and find someone new every time I go in. I've never seen the "scary face in the shed window" that you'll hear about on the Shadowlands website but I've made contact with at least two nonhuman entities and five or six people that I've helped cross over. I know there's more in there too. You don't even need to go at night (which is totally illegal and the CG police are notorious jerks... not someone you want to run into somewhere you're not supposed to be in)... most of my experiences and EVPs have been in the middle of the day. If you go, be respectful. Most people who have roots in CG have family there and it is still an active cemetery.

Grey Cloud Island is a township that is pretty small and also the actual island is part of what is incorporated into Cottage Grove. It's bordered by the large Mississippi River lake, Spring Lake on the south and west by Baldwin Lake (also a Mississippi River lake). I think the only actual thing on the island which is part of Cottage Grove is this bible camp that had a fishy look and name to it. That's way down the dead end road, Grey Cloud Tr. S, which leads all the way down to the dead end. Strange to me was that there is no park there. There's these large scenic river lakes but no park.

To get to this freaky little place you go down U.S. 10/61 south towards Hastings. It's about 5 miles south of I494 off U.S. 10/61. Get off on St. Paul Park Road and take a right if going south, left if going north on 10/61. When you get to the very 1st intersection, Broadway Ave, take a right and go 4 short blocks down to 3rd St. which is also Washington County Road 75 Turn left so you're now going south. You'll pass through residential St. Paul Park for a while. Then it turns to country for another couple miles. This is where it gets freaky at night.

County Road 75 veers off to the right and remains Grey Cloud Dr. South where the road that veers left is Grey Cloud Trail South. It's a loop and I highly reccomend taking the County 75 veer to the right instead of the Grey Cloud Trail South veer off to the left. There's actually some people who live on this straight stretch of County 75. You should then follow the curve when Grey Cloud Island Dr. South makes a right angle, so turn left with it and go down to the next right angle turn and turn right, which again you're still following Grey Cloud Island Drive. You go through a bend that looks almost like a bridge but it's just concrete barriers and past a tributary river lake called Moore Lake. Then you meet up with Grey Cloud Trail South (not drive but trail). If you take a right it goes down to the bible camp type place. I think I went down that way at night. It was real slow going. It's not a big street at all and it's windy. There's a tiny park called Grey Cloud Park which is basically just a boat launch you pass by then you'll see some definate entrance to something (the bible camp place.) I'd turn around here. By now you've probably already seen some weird stuff. This time when you head back do not turn left on the street you originally came from. You're going to proceed over the narrow bridge over Grey Cloud Channel. This is an erie place but there were people following us. It felt like cops but I think it was just more like weird feelings making it feel like we were being followed. I'd say this starts about right when you get around the area of the town hall. After you veer right at Grey Cloud Drive South (County 75) and pass town hall on a straight road. After the bridge is when i got the being followed feeling most strongly.

You can at this point either head out how you came by taking Grey Cloud Trail South back north all the way to where it once again becomes Drive and goes to Broadway in St. Paul Park. Or you can be adventurous and take a right after a small golf course at 103rd St. S. and that curves up to Hadley (a right angled left turn) then immediately (1 block) after that sharp right hang another right on 100th St. South (the 1st street!) and take that to Jamaica Ave. South ot get back to the freeway, 10/61 U.S. Hwy.

Have fun!
