David Goddard's Tree of Sapphires is a much welcomed addition to the studies of Qabalah. One of the excellent features of this well-researched reference work is that it avoids heavy theory and concentrates on the Qabalah as a root source for Western mystery traditions. The book reveals the connections with modern systems of the West such as tarot, angelology, ritual magick, and alchemy.
An enjoyable reading experience, Goddard's book gives the student of the Qabalah a hands-on, working knowledge of the Qabalah. Exercises, meditations, prayer, and visualizations are given as well as a full discussion of the Tree of Life as the root of all wisdom. "The Glory of the Elohim" is but one of many fascinating chapters.
Seen as a guide to spiritual enlightenment, the reader can understand the Qabalah directly, and personally. Goddard lives in England and is a well-respected teacher internationally. He also is the author of Sacred Magic of the Angels. This is another fine book from Weiser, and is David Goddard's finest book to date. Highly recommended for those readers who enjoy a fresh learning experience that offers insights and meanings for the individual.
