Ellen Evert Hopman is well-known for her scholarship and research. In A Druid's Herbal, she brings to light much information that is essential to understanding the way and methods of the ancient Druids.
The healing and magickal properties of herbs was known by the Druids and used accordingly to need, and situation. In addition to a discussion of the Celtic festivals, there is a discussion on how the use of herbs was employed with these festivals.
There are chapters on how to prepare herbal tinctures, salves, and poultices. There is detailed information on how to use herbal alchemy for healing, ceremony, and magick. A fine guide to Druid herbal practices, it is accessible and easy to follow with its applications.
There are two appendices, a bibliography, a guide to name pronunciation, a plant index, and a subject index. Those interested in paranormal studies will find this reference to the ancient Druids fascinating reading.
Ellen Evert Hopman gives a balanced, accurate wealth of information. For an enjoyable learning experience, this book is a winner. A Druid's Herbal is a splendid reference to have in your personal library. Excellent.
