Dear Ghostvillagers,

There's been big changes here at the Ghostvillage.com world headquarters. First, we've moved! Ghostvillage.com was born in New Haven, Connecticut on October 31, 1999, and two weeks ago we moved shop to Bellingham, Massachusetts. What does this mean for you? Nothing. Just letting you know of the happenings around here -- but this does mean that we're only about 45 minutes from Salem... if some Ghostvillagers want to meet up there some weekend close to Halloween, let me know.

We're moving into the Halloween season -- by far the busiest time of year for us. Our Web traffic tends to more than double during October, so stop by often. There is new content added almost daily, and we average 10 - 30 new posts in the message boards per day.

I also want to make a comment about the main page of Ghostvillage.com. Some of you may have noticed this already, but for those who haven't, here's the secret: Whenever there is an update to any section of the site, there is a spot on the home page that lists how recently each section was updated. So if you follow the Encounters section closely, you can see on the home page when it was last updated. Check it out!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Ghostvillage.com would like to extend a very big thank-you to Tony Mellard (a.k.a. SpectralSpy), for his $100 donation to our Web site. It takes people like Tony and all of you other Ghostvillagers to make this the great supernatural community that it is, but it takes money to run our servers and buy enhancements to the site.

If you would like to help out, you can donate here. We simply ask that you put a value on what you get out of Ghostvillage.com, and give accordingly. Remember, even one dollar helps.

Legends of the Supernatural
Our bi-weekly column has been launched, and two installments have already been sent out. The column is published every other Saturday and is distributed to everyone on this list. I have been talking to a couple of newspapers about the possibility of running the column in print and there is interest. Keep your fingers crossed! If you know of a publication that may be interested in running the column as a feature, drop me a line.

Thank you to all who have commented on the two columns so far, and especially to those people who continue to write in and share their supernatural encounters.

A Note on Plagiarism
This is an ugly bit of business we need to take care of this month and is only directed to a very few of our Ghostvillagers. Please do not reprint any material from this Web site without permission from me, and from the original author. And even worse, don't take material (photos, text, diagrams, etc.) and try and pass it off as your own work without giving any credit or citing the source. (I know, I know, they teach us these basics in middle school, but some people don't get it). This is called "plagiarism," and it's against the law. I'm not going to name names here... yet.

We are here to help any budding researcher out there, but just ask first! Okay, end of lecture.

New Books in the Supernatural Library
A special thanks to the two people who have already submitted reviews of books they have read (see below). Just to clarify the policy, anyone can review any book they have read on the topic of ghosts and the supernatural. And if you see that someone else reviewed a book that you have also read, please add your comments by submitting your own review.

Passing Strange: True Tales of New England Hauntings and Horrors
by Joseph A. Citro
The Complete Book of Ghosts and Poltergeists by Leonard R.N. Ashley

Recent Encounters
Here are some Encounters that have been added since the last newsletter, but we are always looking for more. If you have shared your experience yet, please do so here. Also, another new feature in the Encounters section is the ability to rate each story. Give it a try!

Nightly Visitor to a Dying Friend - San Diego, California
Headstone Specter - Waverly Hall Cemetery, Georgia
The Lost City - Rhodesia, Louisiana
Haunted U.S.S. Alabama - Mobile, Alabama
Gettysburg's Haunted Farnsworth Inn - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
A Dark Shadow on a Tennessee Creek - Lyles, Tennessee
