Ever get the feeling that maybe the powers-that-be are lying to you? Ever think that maybe there actually is proof of the paranormal and possibly some people know and are hiding it from the rest of us?
As author Brad Steiger points out, a conspiracy involves three elements: 1.) Nothing happens by accident; 2.) Nothing is at it seems; and 3.) Everything is connected. Some people take comfort in the fact that a situation that is seemingly out of control (like a paranormal event) is actually a well-orchestrated occurrence with a specific intention behind it. Then there's the other side of the coin -- maybe they are really lying to us.
Project Stargate is a classic example. In the 1970s, the United States government began studying the phenomena of remote viewing and astral projection. If the government could acquire people with a true gift for remote viewing, then they would have the ultimate spy on their hands. Imagine a spy who could look into foreign governments' most secretive meetings without leaving U.S. soil? The program was allegedly cancelled in 1995, but not after millions were spent on the project. Different sources debate whether anything of value was gleaned from Stargate, but few deny that the project existed. This month we're going to explore conspiracies a little deeper on Ghostvillage.com. We'll dive into programs like Stargate as well as others that have been whispered about by folks who have seen the inside.
This past month we've been working on a lot of behind-the-scenes projects here at the Ghostvillage.com world headquarters. We're happy to announce the addition of our new links editor, Sreedhar Aravind. Those of you in our message board community know him better as
MoonDragon. In the coming weeks, we'll be announcing more folks who are joining our editorial board. We plan on making our Village an even bigger and better place.
This past month I also added a new Webisode of Paranormal Journeys -- by far my weirdest edition yet. You can check it out here:

In what year did Dr. Robert Schoch start studying the paranormal?
Once we have our winner, we will announce them on our home page as soon

|Who's Who in the Village?
>>Maelinde<< - member since September 1, 2007
What is your name?
How old are you?
Where do you live?
Arlington, Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth Area)
What do you do for a living?
I am the functional lead on human resources-related software systems at Wesleyan University.
What got you interested in ghosts and the supernatural?
I'm a sensitive and have been able to sense and communicate with spirits for most of my life. It started when I was 6 and saw my grandfather's spirit shortly after he passed away. We were able to communicate and that made me not miss him so much.
Do you think there are any government conspiracies afoot to hide the existence of paranormal activity?
While I'm not sure if they really are trying to hide the existence of paranormal activity, I think the government does fear what they do not understand. I'm sure they are aware that paranormal activity does indeed exist, but they may not be able to explain some of these things well enough.
What's your all-time favorite movie?
This is tough, as I love to see movies... I'm going to go with Serenity which was based on the TV series, Firefly.
Our last month's theme was Weird Massachusetts. Here's what you missed if you haven't checked in since last month:
