My Dad's Kitchen Visit
Rate this encounter:
Mike Almada, Mission Viejo, California, January 15, 2004
It was about 1:30 in the morning on January 15, 2004 when this happened and
it had been almost a year since I lost my dad to cancer.
My brother and I and my daughter all live together here in Mission Viejo. At
1:30, I was up on the computer that I had set up in my dinning room of my
apartment. I was checking my bank account to ensure that my direct deposit
had gone in from my work. Now, from my dinning room, I have a 180-degree
view of the whole kitchen and the hallway leading to the back of the
apartment. While I was working on the computer, I heard what sounded like
footsteps on the tile floor walking from the back of the house leading up to
the front where the kitchen was. Automatically when I heard the sound of
footsteps, I proceeded to look up toward the hallway to see if it was my
daughter or my brother coming out to the dinning room to see what I was
doing. When I looked up I saw nothing in the hallway, so I thought to myself
maybe they snuck by me into the kitchen. As I turned to look into the
kitchen I saw what appeared to be my brother standing there so I went back
to looking at the computer. With my head down at the keyboard I asked who I
thought was my brother standing in the kitchen, "Could you get me a soda out
of the fridge please?" With no response from him that he had heard my
request, I looked up into the kitchen and what I saw was not my brother, but
a figure wearing what looked like a white robe looking right me 10 feet from
where I was sitting. I asked the figure, "Can I help you and who are you?"
At that moment I did not feel one bit of fear but a sense of being able to
feel the presence of my dad once again. Right after the sense of feeling
that it was my dad, the figure then turned and disappeared into the
entryway.
