My Family's Haunting

This happened years ago, but I still remember the strange happenings in this house and it's a place I don't think I will ever forget. My family moved into this house sometime during 1999, I was about 12-13 years old. You could tell the house was old, the layout was very odd, and the house itself was crumbling. I'm not sure when the strange happenings began to occur, it came to the point that there were so many that I would just ignore it, or talk about it to my brothers and sisters and strangely enough they would back up what I was saying with experiences of their own.

The few experiences that stood out to me were the following:

1. I woke up in the middle of the night. My bed was parallel to my sister's which was facing the door. I saw what I at the time believed to be my sister roll off the bed in a strange manner, then place her hand on the doorknob, then the figure simply disappeared. My sister was still asleep in her bed. This figure appeared many times not only to me, but also to my family. The figure appeared to be a boy, about 9 - 12 years old, with a short bob of brown hair and a blue and white striped shirt. He would appear when my siblings and I were playing in the yard. My older sister saw him once at night doing what appeared to be getting into her things (she first thought it was my younger brother).

At night I would feel the bed go down behind me (I sleep on my side) as if someone was sitting there at one time. I thought it was my cat, but when I turned around, there was nothing there. The radio in my room would turn on by itself at times and also the station I was listing to would change by itself while the radio was on. My little brother claimed to hear a woman crying in the middle of the night and I would hear it too, I thought it was my mom, but when asked, she said that she was sleeping. My little brother also claimed that there was an old woman that would sit on the edge of his bed and just look at him, he also would have nightmares with what he called demons (horns, cloven hoofs, and claws that would attack him while he slept). When I would go to bed at night, I would hear voices. It sounded like I was at a train station or a mall where there are many people talking at the same time, and when I would try to distinguish what was being said it would disappear. At first I thought that it was me and I asked my mom about it, but she answered by saying that she heard them also, especially late at night when she would be up playing video games.

The back room was especially odd, it was always cold and the walls were a permanent gray. I can't count the many times I helped my mother paint the walls white. It seemed as if paint was sucked into them. No matter what color you tried to paint them, they stayed gray. One particular encounter which disturbed me greatly was that of my older brother, he was sitting down in the living room playing a video game and me and my mom went to the kitchen (it was behind the outside porch) to get some snacks. When we came back, he was on the couch crying. I asked what happened and he said that, "It touched me on the shoulder." He then went on to say that he was sitting down playing his game when something came up from behind him and placed its hand on his shoulder. After that he wouldn't say anything else and to this day has not talked about it. My family moved out of that house sometime in 2003, but to this day I wonder what the history of that house was. I never found anything about the place and I think that in the more recent years it and the wooded area behind it were torn down to make a mall. I guess I'll never find out.
