March 7, 2006 Founder, Jeff Belanger to Hold Creative Writing Workshop at Bellingham, Massachusetts Library

Free five-week class will offer aspiring writers motivation, input from authors, insight from an acquisitions editor, and the opportunity to get published.

BELLINGHAM, MA (March 7, 2006) -- Are you ready to get more serious about your writing? Bellingham resident and author Jeff Belanger will be holding a weekly creative writing workshop at the Bellingham Public Library free of charge beginning Thursday, April 13th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The five-week course will cover how to get past the ominous blank page, developing characters and story, the revision/editing process, and an overview of how to get published. The workshop will culminate with the production and publication of a new literary journal called Blackstone, which will feature the work of the classs participants.

This workshop will develop and showcase literary talent right here in our community, said Jeff Belanger, who will be leading the workshop. The classes will give writers the opportunity to develop their craft and also get feedback and inspiration from others.

Other local authors will make guest appearances throughout the class to discuss how they broke into publishing, and an acquisitions editor from a Boston-based book publisher will talk about the publishing process. Workshop participants will have writing assignments and be asked to critique the work of those in the class.

There is no charge for the workshop, but space is limited to 20 people. The class schedule will be: April 13, 20, 27, May 11, and May 16 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and will be held at the Bellingham Library, 100 Blackstone Street, Bellingham. Those interested must pre-register by contacting the library at: (508) 966-1660.
