Creepy Old Man at the Foot of the Bed

My family and I have lived in the same house for thirteen years. We have had some strange things happen, like footsteps and cupboards opening on their own -- that's about it. We never really thought anything of it, and we assumed it was grandma paying a visit.

One night in the middle of May, I was getting ready for bed. I brushed my teeth and gave my mother a hug and kiss goodnight. As I crawled in bed, I remember getting a weird sensation. I can't explain why I felt that because I was only ten years old at the time.

I finally fell asleep but it didn't feel like I was asleep for very long. Then, something startled me awake. It wasn't a noise, and nothing touched me, but something startled me none the less.

I peeked over my covers to see an elderly man with pure white hair and green eyes looking back at me. He was dressed in what looked like old prison clothes and he smelled musty and strange.

I had never smelled anything like that before!

But there he was, sitting on the edge of my bed just looking at me. He looked angry, and I felt a very intense sense of fear and sadness. Of course, I was too petrified to speak or move. I pulled the blanket over my face and tried to wrap my mind around out what was going on.

I finally peeked out over my blanket and he was gone, but, at the end of my bed was an imprint where he had been.

That was ten years ago, and I never saw that ghostly man again. I do not know who he was or why he showed up in my bedroom, but I do know that his face and his eyes are engraved in my mind for the rest of my life.
