Bide One's TimeWhose Scrooge?By Lee Prosser When Charles Dickens wrote his immortal A Christmas Carol he had no idea of its potential effect down through the decades, nor could he have guessed its full impact upon society! But in the after life, he probably has had the last laugh, and enjoyed it. The question of context in Scrooge is of prime importance. This is something each of us must examine and study. Let us take a closer look at those ghosts who visit Scrooge in the course of the novel's plot. Think about the appearance, approach, and speech of those ghosts who visit Scrooge. Ask yourself this for fun, and personal enlightenment: What if those ghosts were of a Buddhist nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Hindu nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of an Islamic nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Wiccan nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Witch nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Fairy Realm nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Shaman nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Vedanta nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of an Existential nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Druid nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Jewish nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of an Ancient Hebrew nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge encountered? What if those ghosts were of an Ancient Greek nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge encountered? What if those ghosts were of an Ancient Christian nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Huna nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Kabbalah nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Pagan nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of an Atheist nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Agnostic nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? What if those ghosts were of a Deist nature? What kind of ghosts would Scrooge have encountered? (Now, there is a good one to ponder since the Founding Fathers of the United States were essentially deists who followed a path of deism and the USA is essentially based on the concepts of Deism!) Please feel free to add to this list any religion, belief, or philosophical name tag you arrive at, and see what visions you discover! Amazing, isn't it, what the human mind can come up with when it comes to ghosts?
