Grandmother's PremonitionRate this encounter: [Name Withheld Upon Request], Spring Green, Wisconsin, July 1986, info@ghostvillage.comMy grandmother was dying of cancer and was admitted into a Nursing home. She had an estimated three months life expectancy at this point. I was almost 16 years old and having my temporary drivers license, I drove my mother to visit with my grandmother. It was a beautiful day in July, and my grandmother was sitting up in her bed waiting for our visit. She was so happy to see us and we had a great visit. Near the end of our visit, she got out of bed and came to sit on my lap. This shocked me as my grandmother hadn't done this ever before. She looked into my eyes, brushed my hair back, and started to tell me that this would be the last time I would see her. I remember my eyes tearing-up as she told me this, and I kept telling my grandmother that I would see her many more times. She then told me a story of how her mother had passed away when my mother was a young girl and how she was buried on my mother's birthday. She said that she would be buried on my birthday, and that she wanted me to make sure "Ave Maria" was played at her funeral mass. At this point, I was getting freaked out and kept telling her that I would see her again. She then gave me a big hug and kiss and said I shouldn't worry as she would be okay. As my mother and I left with tears streaming down our faces, she asked that we stop and wave good-bye one last time. My grandmother passed away in her sleep a week later which was devastating to us. In the commotion and planning that surrounded her death, I didn't think immediately about what she had told me. A day before the funeral, I thought about what she had said and I asked my mother if "Ave Maria" was scheduled to be played. She checked and found out it wasn't. I insisted that this be done, and my mother made the arrangements. My grandmother was right, as she was buried on my Birthday, August 5th and to this day whenever I hear Ave Maria I think of my grandmother and her message to me.
